Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me regarding my hat pricing. I am just starting out with my first collection, however I am not sure if I priced my hats too high. I am expecting to get most of my business through hiring so don't wish to have them too cheap either otherwise hiring wouldn't really be worth it.

Just trying to get my little millinery business up and running and am seeking some advice re a complaint. A customer purchased a wool felt fedora style approx 6 months ago and has now complained that it has faded. She also said that she had trouble with the wire in the brim bending. She did go on to say she is quite rough with her hats. I'd just appreciate to know how others deal with complaints. This is one area in which I do not feel comfortable. Thank you.

While researching business plans online I found NONE for the business of millinery. Does anyone have any place where to find a sample business plan for the millinery field? Just good to look at one actually from a milliner.

Changing your shop name?

My shop's name is "Helen's Hatbox" but the name isn't particularly elegant and sound's "old ladyish". I have had no repeat buyers and a very scattered client base, so I really don't have any client base to lose. My first name "Helen" sounds "old ladyish" too. My grandfather's grandmother's name was Sarah McFarland. She overcame quite a bit and was a pioneer woman who accomplished a great deal. What if I use her name? Sarah is a name that any age of woman can identify with and sounds 1000% more interesting than "Helen's Hatbox"

Hi everyone. So I just arrived in Melbourne, Australia.

Seeking to work in millinery and/ or fashion. This set of hands are all good to work for you.

I am experienced with basically all related to the store and the millinery craft.

I am doing side gigs as cleaning, and working as bar staff but come on! I want to do what I am good at. Lets meet and start amazing things together. I am very entrepreneurial too and have business skills. Finished a diploma in business in Queensland and I had prior studies in brand structure. 10 years experience with a millinery brand.

Oh, yes and I use parametric modeling in CAD, so I know how to do Digital fabrication (laser cutting, 3dprinting, and fabric printing).

The Portrait Kitchen (for milliners)

Hi everyone

My wife and I have now set up The Portrait Kitchen http://portraitkitchen.co.uk/ from our base in the Midlands, UK and we are interested in engaging with milliners.

The main reason was that we had this nice space in our kitchen and it suits millinery very well as we hope to convey via our site.

We have models and MUA's available.

A common problem I noticed when I offered my portraiture before was location. So here is a way to solve that.

Lets say you are based in LA or Paris. Not that easy for you to get to us?! We wanted to crack that problem. How I shoot can do that. As I take an image it syncs securely and privately into the Adobe Creative Cloud in real time. You can receive those images pretty much immediately in an app that sits on your iPad/smartphone/desktop. You could even hook up via say FaceTime so you can be commenting on the images as they happen, from the comfort of your own home.

Hats can be sent and returned via an insured courier because we understand that this is your art and should be respected accordingly. We operate in a smoke free environment.
